NBA's Hot Streak Ends - After two nights of unreal NBA basketball, we've reached a slow point. Every nationally televised game on the first two nights of the NBA Restart came down to the last few possessions with a final score within single digits. It was a glorious return to action from America's greatest league. However, that highly entertaining streak came to a close today after Miami comfortably beat Denver in a game that was over by the 3rd quarter.
Any Miami Series Will be a Must Watch - There's something about this group of cocky misfits in Miami that never fails to be entertaining. The entire squad's infectious confidence can be felt through the screen and has been on full display since their season opener vs Memphis. That type of energy is invaluable in the Playoffs and especially impressive in Miami's case given their relative youth and inexperience compared to the other 7 teams. Jimmy Butler assumed his role as leader in stride and has done exactly what was asked of him all season. This scrappy and intense play style will make the Heat a must-watch team in the playoffs, regardless of their opponent.
OKC Looks Ready - Believe me or not, I was high on OKC in the preseason despite most assuming they'd be either a lottery team or an 8th seed at best. They've broken out into a solid playoff contender with the ability to score from all 5 positions and a consistently irritating defensive formation. If I were to bet on a team pulling off a 1st round upset, all my money would be going to OKC. They're solid in all the areas you'd want a contender to be in. Watch out for this team.
Utah's Biggest Weakness on Display - The Utah Jazz looked so good against New Orleans that I almost expected them to win a few games in the playoffs and possibly make a push for the Conference Finals. That was an extreme overreaction. While my next take may also prove to be an exaggeration in time, it's at least rooted in some sort of legitimacy. Utah has a serious problem in their general offensive schemes. When they weren't on a fastbreak or in transition, players seemed to be confused or just unproductive. While Utah still shines on the defensive end, their offense has left much to be desired.
It's Late, I'm Gonna Take One Off - Listen everyone, I love you all and your support to the site. However, I'm dozing off between sentences and decided to disregard this game for today. I would apologize to Pelicans fans, but their team is 0-2 so far in the bubble and I'm loving every minute of it. Sorry to Clippers fans.
TJ Warren Drops the Bubble's First 50pt Game - If you bet on TJ Warren being the first to score 50+ points in the Orlando Restart, you're either a savant, Biff Tannen from Back to the Future II, or TJ Warren himself. And yes, I know that previous sentence is silly and against the tone of the article. Even TJ Warren himself wouldn't bet on him dropping 50. Regardless, TJ has been criminally underrated throughout his career and deserves to be respected for the journeyman offense he can bring to a team.
More Tension in Philly - After the 1st quarter, Joel Embiid and Shake Milton had a dispute on the sideline that escalated to shouting and the two being separated. I obviously don't know their intentions behind the shouting match, however, I'm disappointed in Joel for letting this get out of hand. Whether he wants it or not, he's going to be seen as the leader on this team. As the leader on a team that's had locker room issues in the past, it's important to set a good example and especially to not be the apparent aggressor in a conflict. I've always liked Embiid as a player, hopefully he can move past this ugly incident.
Reigning Champs Dominate - Good morning. I passed out seconds after the final buzzer sounded to this game so I'm rushing to get this article out before it's outdated. There's not much to say about this game outside of Toronto and Nick Nurse's brilliance showing itself in Orlando. This team is still massively overlooked for title contention and their lineup construction is beyond beautiful. Beating the Lakers on national TV should garner more attention for this serious Quarantitle threat.
